How can I learn more about coffee?
At Hola Coffee we have spent years training in our academy anyone with an interest and concerns in the world of coffee, specifically specialty coffee.
One of our core values is inclusivity, which is why we don't want to turn specialty coffee into an elitist and impenetrable universe.

We offer courses for baristas certified by the Specialty Coffee Association with the option of taking an internationally recognized official exam, and also our own certifications designed so that anyone can leave our center with the necessary knowledge to develop a career in the world of coffee. Based on a level structure, these courses are for baristas who are already professionals who want to expand their knowledge and perfect their technique, but also for those who are starting from scratch.
On the other hand, our courses, workshops and workshops for amateurs have been designed for all levels and contribute to making specialty coffee known and closer to the average consumer in a simple, friendly and very enjoyable way. If you like coffee, you are curious, and you want to have a good time without complications: we also have activities for you :)
What is the best coffee course for me?
The first approach to coffee, specifically specialty coffee, can be a bit dizzying. It is a much bigger world than we can initially imagine, and it can often be overwhelming. We never tire of saying it, and it is one of the values that we were clear about when we started Hola Coffee: specialty coffee should not be an elitist universe. It is a product that we consume to ENJOY, and it is as simple as that. In order to understand it better, appreciate its nuances and know its origins, it is not necessary to be professional and overcomplicate things. For this reason, when we want to satisfy our curiosity and continue learning, it is important to know which coffee course is appropriate for the purpose and previous knowledge.
First of all, it is important to define the objective that I want to achieve by taking a coffee or barista course. Whether the purpose of taking a course is for leisure or to discover new professional opportunities, the experience should be tailor-made.

Workshops for amateurs
If it's for pure pleasure, because you like to know a bit about everything or simply to have a more solid criterion when buying coffee or going to a coffee shop, we would recommend our Experience Coffee Fanatic workshop. In this course you will begin to understand where coffee comes from, types, characteristics, how it is tasted and how an espresso or filtered coffee is made. This experience is ideal to give to friends, family, teams... it is perfect for the most coffee-loving public.
However, if you want to go a little further and get into practice with the aim of improving your coffee at home, we recommend our workshops. It depends on the system you use to prepare your coffee: both the Espresso at Home Workshop and the Filtered Coffee Workshop will answer all your questions step by step and will make your daily preparation a ritual. If you want to go a step further, we also have the Latte Art Workshop. In it, we delve into the work of milk to accompany espresso coffee, practicing emulsion and artistic pouring: effectively, those works of art that are served to you in your favorite coffee shops. Finally, we have the Tasting Workshop. Coffee tasting complements all of the above, and is a basic and very important tool for learning about the depth of the world of coffee. Tasting and sensorially analysing a coffee is something very necessary for professionals and very useful (and enjoyable) if you are totally new to this world. In this course we start from scratch and you don't need to have any previous knowledge, in fact: we want you to go with the flow.

Professional barista courses
If you are interested in the barista profession and want to try your luck in this sector, we have professional courses at various levels. They are also a perfect option for amateurs with a strong passion, who want to take their hobby to the most professional levels.
In this section we have two modalities, the professional courses with their own qualification and the courses with a certificate from the Specialty Coffee Association.
Hola Coffee's professional courses are more focused on finding a job in the sector or opening your own coffee shop. We focus (very much) on practice and the most in-demand skills right now in the specialty coffee shop sector. We have the introductory level for people who want to start from scratch or have already worked, but need more formal training and want to have real possibilities in the job market. In addition to this, we have the advanced level for those who are already baristas with some experience, but need to go a step further and become senior professionals, with more solid knowledge and the ability to lead teams. This advanced course combines the program of the intermediate and professional levels of the Specialty Coffee Association. With this course you can access job offers for Head Barista, form teams, work in a coffee company, etc.

The Specialty Coffee Association's Barista Skills courses have the advantage of having a certification that is internationally recognized by the coffee community, so they are ideal if you are interested in finding employment abroad, since this qualification is a standard for the sector. It has a higher theoretical content than Hola Coffee's own courses, and at the end of the course you have to pass a theoretical exam as well as a practical one to obtain the certificate, so the opportunities to practice in these courses are less than in the others. Another drawback is that the price of these courses is higher because you have to pay for the international certificate.
In any case, there is nothing we enjoy more than guiding people on which is the best coffee course for their needs, so do not hesitate to write to us at educacion@hola.coffee to tell us your situation. We will be happy to help you.
