This intermediate barista course covers all the content evaluated in the Intermediate certificate of the Specialty Coffee Association and also includes the corresponding tests for this international qualification.

The course takes place in Madrid, at Hola Coffee Academy (Link on Maps). We place great importance on quality and personalized attention in our training, which is why the number of attendees will be very limited.

The Barista Skills Intermediate course expands upon the concepts and skills introduced in the Foundation course. It is the ideal course for those who have experience as baristas and want to analyze how to improve coffee quality and prepare for more complex tasks within the profession.

In this course, you will learn about:

Throughout this interactive course, students will gain a deeper understanding of coffee itself, specifically the impact of coffee varietal, origin, and processing methods on flavor; coffee dose parameters, grind texture, water quality, and extraction time, and how they interact when programming a recipe; beverage structure and taste differences; efficiency and workflow management; sensory aspects of espresso extraction; milk techniques and treatment, and latte art.

In addition to coffee preparation, this course also covers key concepts related to health and safety, customer service, and basic business practices.

Who is this course for?

The SCA Intermediate Barista Skills course is designed for people who already have a solid foundation as baristas and want to develop more advanced skills in espresso preparation, calibration, sensory analysis, and professional coffee shop workflow.
