To obtain the Intermediate Barista Skills certificate from the Specialty Coffee Association it is compulsory to have previously completed the SCA Barista Skills Foundation course.
This exam is a complement to the course for those baristas who want to have an internationally recognised qualification. It is divided into two tests, one theoretical and one practical, where the knowledge acquired during the course is evaluated. This test is taken immediately after the course, using the same machinery and tools previously seen.
If passed, SCA issues a diploma certifying knowledge and skills in the barista discipline at this initiation level.
